Testimonials, reviews and images

Regulated health services

Ahpra distinguishes positive statements about clinical aspects—such as symptoms, treatment or outcomes—from comments solely about customer service or communication. That distinction matters when reviewing material used in advertising. Read Ahpra's advertising guidelines before adopting, reposting or selecting a review.

Before-and-after imagery is not subject to a single blanket rule across all health advertising. Review authenticity, presentation, implied results and any procedure-specific requirements. Higher-risk cosmetic procedures have additional guidance; see Ahpra's relevant resources.

Therapeutic goods

TGA has separate conditions for testimonials and endorsements. Some may be allowed, depending on who provides them, the experience described, incentives, permitted claims and the product. Permission under those conditions does not remove the separate restriction on public prescription-medicine advertising. TGA testimonials and endorsements guidance.

Review the actual asset

In NRS, keep the original review or image and the proposed use together. Check the caption, crop, overlays, source permissions and any implied outcome. Do not turn a client comment into a clinical success claim or use a synthetic person as evidence of a real experience.

A text checker may not read every visual implication. Have the responsible reviewer inspect the full asset and retain the decision. Source review: 8 September 2026.
